My Extraordinary Kid

today is the day my baby turns three. three years of crazy attitude, major demands and the best hugs you can ever get from a child.

three years ago today we were moving into our new home in Denver, CO. i was 8 months pregnant and feeling large and in charge as we frantically tried to unpack boxes before my husband's Allergy Fellowship began. i felt i could rest assured knowing my baby wasn't due for another 5 weeks and i would have plenty of time to get everything ready before she arrived. my OBGYN informed me of other plans as i arrived for my first Denver appointment only to find out that little miss Olive was well on her way.

that was my first indication that this little girl would be nothing but demanding. in the very best way of course.

arriving 5 weeks early and heartily screaming, my baby Olive had a way of letting you know her needs communicating only through cries. our first year was a struggle trying to navigate the waters of a new baby, new home, new job, new school and new friends. during that time i could appreciate that i had never had a child who could snuggle as well as Olive. i had never had a baby that preferred me over my husband, the baby whisperer (three years later she has changed her mind!). i had never had a child with blonde hair, blue eyes and was my spitting image. i love this baby girl with all my heart, spitfire attitude and all.

our little Olive arrived into this world hardly breaking 5 lbs. wrapped in her blanket we lovingly referred to her as our little pimento. she is extraordinary in every way and here is a video sharing just how much i love this kid.
