winter season can be so hard on your body, the harsh elements can dry everything from your head to your toes. not only does your skin tend to dry out, but your hair does as well. here are some tips to help combat those damaging effects.
your hair:
- trying using a moisturizing shampoo, such as Aveeno's Nourish + Moisturize shampoo and conditioner. this duo leaves your hair feeling soft and silky, without those heavy additives other moisturizing shampoos often have. moisturized hair means less frizziness, as well as, less static. YAY!
- another good moisturizing treatment is to heat up a few tablespoons of olive oil. apply to your wet hair and let sit for several minutes. next, use your Aveeno shampoo and conditioner to wash and rinse. this will help add shine to any limp locks.
your skin:
- dry skin on your body can be a constant battle during the winter months. if this is also a problem for you, try Aveeno's award winning Daily Moisturizing Lotion. apply immediately after showering or bathing (try to avoid HOT water, this will only dry out skin more). this will help to lock in moisture soaked up by your skin and the natural colloidal oatmeal formula means long lasting moisturization.
- dry cracked hands and feet can be soothed by applying a thick layer of lotion. next, put on your soft socks and gloves and get some rest. sleeping with gloves on your hands and feet will help moisture penetrate deep into your skin leaving hands and feet smooth in the morning.
i am a big proponent of the Aveeno products, in fact, i use their baby lotion on my face every day! it makes a great facial moisturizer, it is inexpensive, and lasts forever. their products work well and are affordable, the best combination IMHO. hope this helps your winter skin find some relief.

I LOVE Aveeno, it's my favorite! The only line of products that doesn't "burn" or irritate my skin. Like you, I like using their baby lotion on our faces. Gabe's skin gets all red + dry and peels when it's too cold and the only thing that works is Aveeno when even Eucerin won't work. He usually refuses to use creams because it's not too manly, but he now trusts Aveeno too. I love that it doesn't smell, too. I'm happy to see another Aveeno fan, especially since you're the authority on everything great :)
