Marie Callender's Comforts From Home

family is something very dear to me. my greatest passion, love and dedication is for my sweet little family. i love each of these children with all of my heart and my husband is my best friend, my greatest ally and my partner in crime. one thing we really value is having family dinner together every evening. yes, life is hectic and crazy and schedules can be erratic but whatever the night we take a moment to gather around a dinner table even if only for a few minutes. it is a way that my family can connect after a day of being pulled in so many directions. Marie Callender's creates homemade meals and desserts with special touches so that my family can slow down and savor together.

this fall, Marie's is gearing up to re-launch the Comforts from Home Project by bringing the comforts of home to those who protect America's homes every day: the brave men and women of the US Military. this is a project that is very dear to my heart. my husband spent four years serving in the US Air Force. it was four years of sacrifice and great joy. we lived overseas all four years and developed very special relationships with our fellow service men and women and their families became our 'family'. serving in the United States Air Force brought us great pride to be able to give back to our country. to this day i tear up every time Military Veterans are publicly acknowledged. having had a small taste of the sacrifices they made makes me appreciate their service even more.

in addition to the Comforts from Home Project Marie's is teaming up with the USO to support USO Operation Celebration™, a program that shares a bit of home with our troops and helps them celebrate the holidays year round.

being away from family during the holidays was difficult for us when we lived overseas. some of our most cherished memories include sitting around a table with our friends who had become like family. talking, laughing and enjoying good food were always staples of these gatherings. we would take turns hosting gatherings to which everyone was always invited and it seemed the old saying 'the more the merrier' couldn't be truer in this situation.

we have completed our service in the US Military however any chance to continue service for our troops is something i will always be on board with. Marie's has offered to make a donation to the USO to support USO Operation Celebration™ every time you enter a code from a specially marked package of Marie Callender's meals or desserts.

Marie Callender's is holding a Comforts From Home Facebook challenge that encourages you to submit your own photos using the hashtag #ComfortsFromHome in support of the USO. Scripps Network will donate $1 to the USO for each photo received (up to $10K). submitted photos may be featured on-air during special episodes of Kitchen Crashers(HGTV airing 11/9 and 11/14), Hello/Goodbye(Travel Channel airing 11/10), and Guy's Grocery Games(Food Network airing 12/14 and 12/19).
