a while back a friend recommended a fashion blog that shows how to put together cute outfits with clothes that have been thrifted (that's Mormon speak for: bought from a Thrift Store). this girl's blog is pretty adorable and looking through it gave me ideas for my own wardrobe. you can check it out HERE
every once in a while i like to hop online and check out cute frugal fashion blogs to get inspiration, ideas, and sometimes motivation. in the winter i easily get into slumps. add a pregnancy to that and i find myself falling prey to the hoody sweatshirts and sweatpants in my closet (not that there is anything wrong with that). i just know getting myself dressed in the morning gives me a more positive energy to take on the day.
here are a couple other fashion blogs you can take a look at if you're interested:
frugal fashionistas
sensibly styled
i would love to know if you have any good fashion blogs of your own that you like checking out? please share.

Recent Projects
i had the chance to do makeup for an amazing woman who was helping host the "Mandi-Ball" for THE Ohio State University Dental School. this years theme was Masquerade and she was inspired by a peacock. here's a look at her makeup:
she looked gorgeous and the best part was that we had an afternoon to spend together since those opportunities are few and far between. thanks for the fun adventure Ally.
you can check out more pictures of the event here. i am in love with her and her blog.

NAKED Palette by Urban Decay {Grail or Fail}
one of the perks of spending the week with sisters is that we get to swap beauty ideas, tips, and tricks. my sister Stephanie has recently purchased the NAKED Palette by Urban Decay which is something i have had my eye on for several months. since this palette was first released it has been hard to obtain, due to its popularity. the colors are a great variety of neutrals that look good on EVERYONE. these colors range from champagne to gunmetal with everything from glitter, to shimmer, to matte.
while Stephanie loves the colors and the variety there are a few downfalls. she feels the primer is not as good as the MAC paints. i love MAC paint so it is hard to imagine anything better. second, while the colors are gorgeous the application is not as smooth as a more expensive shadow. this tends to always be the case. you really are paying for quality when you invest in a more expensive shadow.
overall the rating for this is a GRAIL. it really is a good investment for the amount of product that you receive, as well as it is practically fail proof colors. if you want a nicer eyeshadow palette with variety, i would definitely recommend this product. this will keep you on top of current makeup trends and colors...for the time being :)

Eyelash Extensions
my lack of posting last week was due to the fact that i spent it in Washington visiting my family. have i mentioned how much i love my family? i currently have three siblings who live there as well as my parents. when i found out another sibling would be visiting i figured i better buy a ticket because getting together doesn't come easy with a large family, and if more than half are already gathered, i better join in. thankfully my brother and his wife decided to make the trip and my other cute sil had to leave her husband (my brother) home working but came to visit anyway!
there typically tends to be a lot of laughing, teasing, eating, and shopping that takes place (just a few of my favorite things) but this weekend was particularly special. my sister who lives in Arizona was just trained in how to apply eyelash extensions. the weekend was a little lash crazy but well worth it! we each had a turn getting eyelashes applied as well as others were able to learn how to apply the lashes because once the AZ sister is gone, they want those lashes to continue looking gorgeous.
here is a picture of me, mid-lash application:
it's a little scary but cellphone cameras aren't the most flattering. you can see the difference is dramatic between the two eyes.
eyelash extensions are synthetic lashes that are glued to your existing eyelash. each synthetic eyelash is glued to one individual eyelash, and should stay on as long as the life of the eyelash. your eyelashes, like all of your body hair, sheds and replaces itself on a continual basis, so the life of these synthetic eyelashes should last approximately 4-6 weeks. at that point, you will probably need a "fill" to place more synthetic lashes on the new eyelashes that have grown in.
i have only had the lashes on for a few days and there are a few things i've noticed:

i have only had the lashes on for a few days and there are a few things i've noticed:
- you can't touch your eyes! too much handling of the lashes will cause them to fall out.
- you cannot splash water on them. washing your face now takes more care, i just use a wash cloth to wash and take care to wipe around the eyes, and not over them.
- you cannot use pencil liner. i am okay with that because my addiction to liquid liner is no problem.
- you cannot wear mascara.
- you look like you have permanent makeup on.
- you wake up in the morning looking like a million bucks
- when pregnant, this gives you a little boost of beauty :)
- i already love them.
