China Glaze Holiday Collection

every year China Glaze puts together a collection for the holidays filled with festive colors and combinations. included in that are great stocking stuffer packages featuring a variety of polishes from the collection, such as three colors and a miniature stocking, or a special glitter selection. this year they are on course and on point.

the new holiday collection from China Glaze features some of the hottest colors of the moment, 'holos' (the 'it' finish in polish right now) and glitters. but rather than the traditional glitters these glitters are a variety of sizes, shapes and colors which make them great for layering or on their own. what makes this collection so great is that all of the colors coordinate together really well and it is easy to mix and match your favorite holo with your favorite glitter.

China Glaze hit the ball outta' the park.

if you are looking for a few stocking stuffer ideas, let this be at the top of your list.

Fall's Hottest Nail Colors

let us a take moment of silence to appreciate the lengths nails polish has come in the last two years.

*****

seriously though, polish collections usually contained the occasional glitter or metallic finish. currently we are enjoying textures, holographic colors, mixed glitters, varying finishes and a wide array of nail art. let the heavens open and clouds part while we hear the angels singing 'hallelujah'. expressing your personal style has never been easier (or this inexpensive!) and nails make the perfect canvas for that.

here are some of the colors you will be seeing on nails everywhere:

  1. butter LONDON, Inky Six: a mixed metallic glitter sure to be seen on the hands of rockstars everywhere.
  2. China Glaze, Goldie But Goodie: gold is the season's hottest accent and what better to accent than your nails? all the more better for fashioning, my dear.
  3. essie, For The Twill Of It: this holographic polish by essie will quickly be selling out in stores everywhere. a must-have for the season and the perfect accompaniment to every outfit.
  4. Sally Hansen, Fuzzy Coat: the latest craze in polish textures are the fuzzy coats. pick 'em up in varying shades to layer over your latest mani for the coolest texture effect in town.
  5. Chanel, Alchimie: one of the best nail polishes, but also the most expensive, Chanel gets it right erry time. army green, anyone?

Ombre Nail Tutorial

here's another Valentine's Day nail tutorial to enjoy. i decided to give the sponge ombre effect a try and between this week's tutorial and last week's ombre tutorial i prefer the tricolor ombre vs. the sponge. the sponge was difficult to fade as it applied very sheer and needed several layers. to be honest those pinterest ombre nail tutorials make it look so easy when it is not as simple as it looks!

i'd love to hear your experience with ombre nails and how you found the most success.

Ombre Nail Tutorial

that's right peeps! Vday is just around the corner which means lots of lovey-dovey posts to enjoy. today's step by step nail tutorial features an ombre technique i did last year but rather than repost the tutorial i created a newer shinier version.

your ombre nail can be achieved using three varying shades of the same color. the trick to getting the colors to blend is apply all three colors to one nail before moving on to the next. this way the paint 'merges'.

enjoy your ombre nail tutorial!

Nail Polish Love Notes

i love makeup and it was only a matter of time before nail polish joined in on the love notes. this is a way for me to share with you some of my favorite and not-so-favorite love affairs with makeup.
  • China Glaze - my love for you will never die. each new collection includes a seasonal have, my mani's are dry in minutes and last for days. i love you.
  • Sinful Colors - you are the perfect solution to a polish fling. if i'm in the mood for a color but don't want to commit, $2 is worth the quick fix. no walk of shame necessary.
  • Chanel - your colors last and they are some of the most popular. like the BMOC (or in this case Big Polish On Campus) you set the trend for what's cool. your price tag is steeeep but usually worth it.
  • Lynderella - the indie polish that everyone is vying to get their hands on. you've kept your edge and make the best and most coveted glitters in the business. is this burning, an eternal flame?
  • Illamasqua - love your makeup but your 'rubber' effect polish was a total fail. it is like getting super excited for the big date only to go to Burger King. next time, let's do lunch.
