Nail Polish Love Notes

i love makeup and it was only a matter of time before nail polish joined in on the love notes. this is a way for me to share with you some of my favorite and not-so-favorite love affairs with makeup.

• China Glaze - my love for you will never die. each new collection includes a seasonal have, my mani's are dry in minutes and last for days. i love you.
• Sinful Colors - you are the perfect solution to a polish fling. if i'm in the mood for a color but don't want to commit, $2 is worth the quick fix. no walk of shame necessary.
• Chanel - your colors last and they are some of the most popular. like the BMOC (or in this case Big Polish On Campus) you set the trend for what's cool. your price tag is steeeep but usually worth it.
• Lynderella - the indie polish that everyone is vying to get their hands on. you've kept your edge and make the best and most coveted glitters in the business. is this burning, an eternal flame?
• Illamasqua - love your makeup but your 'rubber' effect polish was a total fail. it is like getting super excited for the big date only to go to Burger King. next time, let's do lunch.

Lipstick Love Notes

if you missed the first few love notes of this series you can find them here: foundation, lipgloss, eyeshadow. is it weird that i write love notes to my makeup? sure. but how else can i really explain my feelings for these products?  besides, it takes me back to seventh grade where you are passing notes with the boy sitting next you asking 'Do you like me? Check Yes or No'. 

• E.L.F. Lipstick - your prices are ridiculously reasonable but sometimes being easy does make you sleazy. i wish you would stick around a little longer but you don't. seriously, this stuff doesn't stick.
• MAC - it's a little embarrassing just how much i love all MAC products. you could call me the MAC makeup stalker. i am constantly browsing their counters, checking their status updates and snatching up every last piece of MAC that i can. creepy but true.
• Tom Ford - you are THE designer of all designers (hello, GUCCI and Yves St. Laurent) and your makeup deserves the hefty price tag. doesn't mean i'll buy you but i'll always loving stare at you with starry eyes.
• Christian Dior - my first Dior lipstick purchase happened when i was 19. i died for their lipstick tubes. 
• Revlon Lip Butters - you are the ultimate people person of lipstick. you work the room and you work on everyone.

yes, it is also alarmingly apparent i have an addiction to pink. is there a twelve step program for that?

Foundation Love Notes

my makeup love notes continue. you can find my love notes to eyeshadow here and lipgloss here. what are makeup love notes? an ode to the relationship i have on the side-with my makeup. thankfully it is one that doesn't cause a lot of jealousy from Tman.

• Make Up For Ever HD - you changed my life. i love you and everything about you. i use every.last.drop. am i smothering you? 
• CoverGirl TruBlend - you are totes amaze. a price range that everyone can afford makes you easy but not sleazy.
• Temptu Airbrush - if i found you on my makeup counter i may squeal - a tiny bit (hint hint Tman).
• Giorgio Armani Designer Lift - good enough for Kimye whose taste level is sometimes in question, you leave her looking flawless.
• Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid - EL, i love you and all you do, but this time you messed up. your invisible foundation leaves me looking jaundiced. that wasn't your intent, right?

• Rimmel, your low prices keep me and the Tman happy. thank you.
• Bare Escentuals, the unsung hero of shadows. haven't met a shadow i didn't like.
• Forever21 makeup, let's break up.
• Kevyn Aucoin, your makeup legacy lives on. you really know makeup.

this is a new series of posts to share my favorite, and not so favorite products. a sort of love-note to my makeup. (weird, i know) if you have any particular requests, please let me know. 

• Smashbox, i love you but i don't love your longwear lipgloss. the steep price tag is not worthy of the 6 hour claim. 
• Nars, while your smoosh-centric names are actually a turn-off, your color choices are spot on.
• MAC, you get it.
• Yves Saint Laurent, you know how to make a girl feel glamourous. 
• Revlon, good color, long lasting and affordable. don't ever change.
