RoC Skincare Solutions and Giveaway

skincare is a constant battle in my life. it is the one thing i have severe commitment issues with. i find a product that works and use it religiously for a few weeks and then i start to slip. my skin responds with a major breakout and i frantically try a new product to help cure my skin problems. over the years i have come across a few skincare lines that i can really rely for effective skincare resolution and RoC Skincare is one of them. i keep a steady stream of products as backup so that i never run out. they are one of the few skincare brands that consistently provide results for my skin. one of the best things about it is that you can find it at most major retailers (Target anyone?)

dry skin a problem - look no further. try the Multi Correction products. packed with anti aging, moisturizing and unblocking ingredients you cannot go wrong. wrinkles starting to show? give their Retinol Correxion products a try. packed with retinols that provide amazing results in the battle against wrinkles while not being too harsh on your skin, particularly during winter.

want to give all of these products a try? go ahead and enter the rafflecopter below for your chance to win the basket pictured above including a $200 Visa Gift Card! what a great opportunity to say Merry Christmas to yourself! good luck!

Pictures On Gold Locket Giveaway

a few weeks ago i was offered the opportunity to review a custom designed locket by Pictures On Gold. i went to the website and went through the designing process. through this process you get to select the locket shape and size. the front panel of locket can be blank or inscribed with your initials. inside of the locket you can select from a picture, initials or a blank space within each panel. the last option is to select your chain style and length.

i love the idea of a locket because it is old school and is one of those classic jewelry items that is a necessity for everyone. besides the fact that i am obsessed with my kids so getting to wear them around my neck is an even added bonus. i went through the design selection and chose a heart locket with my initials on the front. inside the locket i kept one panel blank and selected the laser print picture. it was so easy, i just uploaded my file right during the selection process and cropped it to fit within the panel. last i selected the square link chain in a longer length to update the locket look and make it a little more modern.

i was so thrilled when my necklace arrived. to say i love it is an understatement. my kids love that they are in it and it is like a little piece of my heart that i can wear. i receive compliments every time i wear it and would purchase this in a heartbeat.

as a very generous holiday offer Pictures On Gold is giving away one custom locket of reader's choice up to $249 in value. if you want to secure yours without the risk of a giveaway you can visit www.PicturesonGold.com and use promo code HOLIDAY14 for a 10% discount on your purchase. take a moment to visit the Pictures On Gold Instagram to get an idea of all they have to offer for the holidays and then enter on the rafflecopter below for your chance to win.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Giveaway/Tutorial/Makeup Wars

this week's Makeup Wars is sharing our favorite Urban Decay products and shadows. not only are we sharing our favorite Urban Decay Shadows but we are also giving them away! you can enter for a chance to win an Urban Decay eyeshadow palette filled with all of our beauty blogger favorite colors.

let me give you a moment while that amazing-ness settles. an entire eyeshadow palette of goodness. definitely worth taking a moment to enter. make sure to follow through to the end of this post for your chance to enter (Rafflecopter below) and links to all of the other beauty blogger favorite AUrban Decay eyeshadow posts.

on to the tutorial. the pictures below don't do this look justice due to the foiling effect of the shadow. i can't capture the shine and shimmer highlight that make this look the ultimate easy eye makeup:

plus, for those of you advancing in years and are worried about using shimmery colors (they tend to accentuate wrinkles) this look actually works since you are only adding shimmer to the very center of your lid, rather than all over.

on to the tutorial!

  1. apply nude brown shadow from lashline to crease. in this instance, i am using Urban Decay's YDK shadow.

  2. using the foiling technique (for further instruction click here), i foiled my Queen Phyllis to the center of my eyelid only

  3. using the same brush used for foiling, gently sweep back and forth just above the lash line.

  4. enjoy!

Meaningful Beauty Cindy Crawford Review & Giveaway

i was recently selected to become a brand ambassador for the Meaningful Beauty Cindy Crawford skincare. as part of the program i was sent the skincare line to try and incorporate into my lifestyle. one of my major problems with skincare is finding the time and the motivation to do it - but once that conversion happens i lock in.

my entire life i have spent on the outskirts of exercise. i was athletic enough to enjoy activities but 100% out of shape. did i have any desire to exercise? no. i blame it on my genetic disposition to stay the same size and shape no matter what i do but believe me, i was needing a pick-me-up.

Tman and i were planning our 10 year anniversary trip to Hawaii and i decided i wanted to try and get into better conditioning before we left. i began exercising on a regular basis. week one was exhausting and 20 minutes into the exercising i would usually quit. week two was similar. week three i could make it through the entire program but would always end up on the floor huffing and puffing. week four, same story. week five i noticed the workouts were getting a little easier and more enjoyable. by week six, exercising had become a habit that i no longer dreaded but appreciated. it took several weeks to get over the negativity of the workouts to really reap the benefits of the workouts. more energy, better sleep, less anxiety and toned muscles were just a few of the things i began to notice. working out went from being a burden to a blessing.

the same can happen with your skin care. no matter what your age, skin care is always an issue. your gorgeous perfect skin begins degenerating from the moment you leave the womb. free radicals are on constant attack, uv rays work their deadly unavoidable magic and lifestyle conditions are always in flux.

am i excited to start the Meaningful Beauty Cindy Crawford line? the answer is yes. complete lines of skincare typically bring about the most change. each product targets specific problem areas, dryness, fine lines, sun damage, etc. for an Umbrella Policy of skincare that can't be beat. i want to take something that has previously seemed a burden and turn it into a blessing. i would like my overall health and wellness to continue improving. i may be aging but my lifestyle and my skin doesn't have to.

below are the simple steps to the Meaningful Beauty daily routines for AM & PM:

    Valentine's Day Giveaway (Sponsored Post)

i was 20 years old when i entered my first Sephora. it was a makeup mecca and i quickly fell in love. aisle upon aisle stocked with every makeup brand or item you could think of. on organized end-caps you would find neat little jars filled with q-tips, tissues, makeup remover and a lighted mirror. think of it as your own personal vanity.

my heart was racing as i browsed the rows of glossy beauty bottles and thoughtfully considered my purchase. i was 20, living on my own in Seattle which meant my budget for makeup was next to nil. combine that with the fact that the only makeup i wore when i was 20 was liquid eyeliner and mascara, my makeup needs were next to nothing. regardless, there is something about makeup that just beckons you. the promise of looking younger, prettier, better are all waiting for you in a little tube packaged in a shiny box.

this was during the days of JuicyTubes by Lancome. EVERYONE had a JuicyTube. movie stars used them, Jessica Simpson was always sporting one on her hit television show 'Newlyweds' and every woman in town could be found reapplying their glossy gloss. after stumbling into the Lancome aisle i knew how my $20 would be spent - primarily on a lip gloss.

my love for lipgloss has yet to wane. you can find at least 5 in my purse on any given day, twenty+ on vanity countertop and miscellaneous glosses stashed in every drawer and cupboard in my home.

that's my love story for lipgloss and this Valentine's Day, Coupons.com is hosting a Valentine's Day Sweepstakes where you can share your own true love story for a chance to win a dream vacation. in the meantime, if your true love happens to be lipgloss as well, check out Coupons.com for Valentine's Day deals.

additionally, myself and a armful of my favorite beauty bloggers have combined forces to offer you a $200 e-gift card to Sephora or SpaFinder. to enter, you must be a US Resident. follow the rafflecopter below for instructions:

    Winter Skincare Giveaway

i am a Eucerin Skin First Network blogger and have worked with Eucerin in collaboration for this post

while shopping for groceries at our family favorite store (Costco!) i stumbled upon Stephen's Hot Chocolate. i don't drink coffee or tea so hot chocolate is one of those treats and i would consider myself a connoisseur of. Stephen's Hot Chocolate is the b-e-s-t hot chocolate on the market (believe me, i've tried quite a few) and is the signature item in our home that screams winter.

bears hibernate, squirrels collect and store acorns, the Blushing Basics household buys hot chocolate. and lots of it.

in addition to preparing yourself for the busy holiday months ahead, don't forget to prepare your skin. if you saw yesterday's post i gave some tips for how to avoid dry skin, hair and eyes. skin stress that appears during the holidays can be the result of a lack of moisture, especially if you live in a colder climate. good skin care and healthy lifestyle choices can help delay premature aging and prevent various skin problems.

below are five simple skincare rules for keeping you and your family's skin healthy and moisturized all winter long:
    1. cold weather can be tough on your hands; be sure to keep a pair of gloves in your purse to protect against harsh winter elements.
    2. relieve dryness associated with frequent hand washing by washing with lukewarm water, using a gentle soap and applying Eucerin Intensive Repair Extra-Enrich Hand Crème right after drying your hands. in fact, i keep a bottle right next to my soap near every sink so that i will automatically apply right after washing.
    3. keep your showers short and sweet and use lukewarm water. bathing for long periods in hot water can cause skin to lose natural oils and nutrients.
    4. try Eucerin Intensive Repair Extra Enriched Foot Crème to help repair dry, cracked heels and feet this season. apply before bedtime and sleep with socks on to get some intense hydration.
    5. getting a full six to eight hours of sleep is important for your overall well-being and helps your skin look its best. turn off the Real Housewives and get some shut eye!
Eucerin has offered to generously treat one Blushing Basics reader to the following prize pack:

    ·         $125 Visa Gift Card
    ·         Eucerin Intensive Repair Extra-Enriched Hand Crème
    ·         Eucerin Intensive Repair Extra-Enriched Foot Crème
    ·         Eucerin Smoothing Repair Dry Skin Lotion

    Mary Kay Giveaway

along with chilly temperatures, changing leaves and pumpkin-spice everything, fall also brings about chic new trends to try! however, the transition from the easy breezy styles of summer to the high-fashion looks of fall can be intimidating! from face to feet, celebrity makeup artist and star of “Randy to the Rescue” Raychel Wade and stylist to the stars Lo VonRumpf (clients include Peyton List, Kelli Berglund and Jean Luc Bildeau) identify their favorite fall trends and help us seamlessly incorporate them into our current wardrobe!

    Start with Style
    • From leopard print to youthful patterns like polka dots and hearts, this season it’s all about being playful with your wardrobe. Incorporate this trend with chic accessories like scarves, cardigans, gloves or a great clutch!
    • Menswear-inspired pieces like trench coats, blazers and pinstripes are huge for fall! Try this trend with an oversized leather watch or by wearing a chic loafer or kitten heel.
    • Dark, intense and classic—navy blue is quickly becoming the new black. Pair this trend with leopard or menswear pieces for a head-turning ensemble.
    • Rich red tones are one of the hottest colors this season.  Think burgundy, red claret, oxblood and military red to add a "pop of color" to your fall/winter wardrobe.

    Enhance with Makeup…

Mary Kay At Play Baked Eye Trio in On the Horizon is perfect for fall. With three colors conveniently baked into one small compact, you can mix and match, be bold or be natural!
Dust the lightest champagne color on the brow bone and the inner corner of the eye, then apply the berry color to the center of the eyelid. Use the darkest plum color on the outer corner to create a little drama
Line the upper lash line with Mary Kay Eyeliner in Black
Finish off the look with two coats of Mary Kay Lash Love Lengthening Mascara

Choose a neutral shade for your cheeks like Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color in Sparkling Cider.
    Smile in the mirror
Gently brush on the blush directly below your pupil and across from the tip of your nose
Blend the blush up and out in the direction of cat whiskers

Mary Kay True Dimensions Lipstick in Mystic Plum is the perfect addition to your fall look. The color is rich and vibrant and the texture is nourishing and moisturizing.
Apply Mary Kay Lip Liner in Plum after lipstick for a more natural look.  For a more defined, dramatic look, apply the liner before the lipstick

When your look is complete it's time for the secret ingredient that will tie it all together—Mary Kay Makeup Finishing Spray!
Spray in an X formation a few inches from your face to keep your makeup fresh and flawless for hours and hours.

Eucerin Prize Pack Giveaway [Including $125 Visa Gift Card]

this month is national eczema awareness month and chances are, you or someone you love has suffered from this itchy condition, too. here at the Blushing Basics household all three babies have taken bouts with eczema, my daughter having the worst case of it and still battling that dry itching skin. frequent itching causes her to wake up at night, causes her constant discomfort and makes that poor little girl one unhappy bug. thankfully Tman is a full-fledged Allergist. that's right, Tman MD is the MAN when it comes to taking care of our dry-skinned kiddos.

one of our best remedies for eczema are wet wraps. after bathing we'll wrap some moist towels/rags over the affected area and then cover with baggies or saran wrap. this helps to lock moisture into the skin and sooth the irritation caused by eczema allowing skin to heal faster.

one of the most common misconceptions is that you should bath less when you have eczema, but the truth is, you should bath more. instead of avoiding water, you should avoid hot temperatures and make sure to lather on the lotion immediately after bathing. don't wait a few minutes - those precious minutes allow the moisture to evaporate from your skin. instead, keep some tubes of Eucerin's latest Eczema Relief Instant Therapy nearby and slather your skin to softness.

Eucerin is proud to be part of the solution through its newest line of products specifically designed to relieve Eczema symptoms, including:

Eucerin Eczema Relief Instant Therapy is clinically proven to immediately soothe and calm the dry itchy skin caused by eczema and provide long-lasting itch relief. Its moisturizing formula protects and fortifies the skin barrier, improving the appearance and overall skin condition. It is appropriate for adults, children and babies. The formula is free of dyes, fragrance, and steroids, and gentle for use on eczematic skin.

Eucerin Eczema Relief Body Crème is clinically proven to significantly improve hydration, improve the appearance of red, irritated skin and relieve itchiness of eczema.

to celebrate eczema awareness month and the recent launch of Eucerin's eczema solutions, one lucky Blushing Basics reader will win:
    • $125 Visa Gift Card
    • NEW Eucerin Eczema Relief Instant Therapy
    • NEW Eucerin Eczema Relief Body Crème

Nourish Your Skin From Within + Eucerin $125 Giveaway

September is National Skin Care Awareness Month and to show some love to our skin, let's discuss what we eat!

did you know that what you put on your plate is just as important as what you put on your skin? everything you eat affects your skin health and a healthy diet can lead to healthy skin. below is a list of some of my favorite foods to improve skin health:
    • carrots - rich in vitamin A help prevent overproduction of cells in the skin's outer layer where dead cells and sebum combine and clog pores. yuck!
    • spinach - a personal favorite, is super hydrating and helps penetrate cell membranes which can lead to plumper and less wrinkled skin.
    • berries - rich in antioxidants which are the miracle workers in skin care. the nutrients in these yummy foods help keep skin clear.
    • avocados - packed with niacin which is an anti-inflammatory which helps soothe irritated or red skin.

eating healthy is an important part of the Blushing Basics household (see Tman & sissy boo above chowing on some delicious fruit) and this month Eucerin would like to offer one Blushing Basics reader the opportunity to do their own healthy food shopping with:
    • $125 Gift Card to Whole Foods
    • Plus a selection of Eucerin Products
holy sweetness Batman, you better be entering by following the instructions below:

    Skin Myths Debunked + Giveaway

we've all heard the recommendations: 'Drink red wine.' 'Eat less chocolate.' 'Put toothpaste on pimples." but the question is, does it really work? this month Eucerin has provided Blushing Basics with some skin care knowledge and debunking some persistent beauty myths.

does toothpaste on pimples help? plain and simple - NOPE.

do anti-wrinkle creams erase wrinkles? - no, but they do help to minimize the appearance of them. the most essential part of this equation is prevention which means make sure you are applying your SPF daily.

washing your face with hot water opens up your pores. negatory. steam from hot water can help soften the skin making hardened dirt and oils easier to remove, but extra hot water can strip your skin of its natural oils. luke-warm water when cleansing and immediately moisturizing is key.

bathing is bad for dry skin/eczema. baths are not the criminal when it comes to dry skin. the essential step in keeping skin moisturized is locking in the moisture after a bath (or shower if you prefer). you can lock in that moisture by immediately, and i am going to stress this one more time, immediately apply an emollient rich moisturizer after bathing.

laying out poolside is the best way to get your daily intake of Vitamin D. this is a h-e-double hockey sticks no, sun tanning is not the answer. ask your doctor about supplements or adding Vitamin D enriched foods to your diet.

it's all about genetics. yes and no. genetics do play a role in your complexion however how your skin ages is dependent on many variables including diet, sun exposure and smoking. moderation is key.

to help you maintain healthy, radiant skin, Eucerin would like to send you the following package:

    ·         $125 Visa Gift Card
    ·         Eucerin Daily Protection SPF 15 Moisturizing Body Lotion
    ·         Eucerin Daily Protection SPF 30 Moisturizing Face Lotion

Fashion Friday Albion Fit Swimsuit + Giveaway

wearing my Albion Fit Gown Suit in charcoal
this week's fashion friday is brought to you by Albion Fit - my latest favorite destination for women's fitness and swimwear. their product quality is fantastic, their customer service superb, their fit is modest (enough) and their design is adorable.

it's kind of a big deal.

Albion's mission is to provide women with the most luxurious, flattering and hassle-free fitness and leisure apparel on the market. i would say they have succeeded. designing clothing that is not only fashionable but body conscious is not an easy task but they do it with ease. the design of their clothing is about function and fashion - taking you from the gym to lunch with friends all while looking like a hot dish.

below is my Albion Fit Gown Suit in charcoal. the ruffle detail and side ruching add to the style and sophisticated glamour of the suit. well constructed with quality fabric, reinforced seams and well-lined means it shows off your body without accenting every little imperfection.

hat: Roxy (similar here) dog: Zelda
with several unique bathing suits to choose from, you won't be wearing the same suit as every other woman when you hit the pool:
swim options offered by Albion Fit
their fitness wear is can be worn coordinated or as separates. either way is a win. i'm loving this outfit below so ridiculously much. (i'm secretly hoping Tman will catch a glimpse of this post - hint, hint):
i'm a little obsessed with this fitness wear by Albion Fit
no swim session is complete without a little sunscreen. Coppertone provides a wide variety of sunscreens with their Oil-Free Face lotion being one of my favorites. leaving virtually no 'sunscreen grease' it applies smooth and melts into your skin. rather than a greasy barrier your skin feels silky once applied. PLUS it won't clog your pores which is just as important for your body as well as your face during the hot summer months.

check out the Coppertone website for coupons to make your sunscreen purchasing experience a little easier on your wallet.

    pedicure: China Glaze Neons
Albion Fit has generously offered a promotional code for all Blushing Basics readers to save $15 on any purchase of $50 or more by using the code BLUSHING20 through July 21. in addition they have also offered to give away ONE GOWN SUIT to one lucky Blushing Basics reader.* follow the rafflecopter instructions below to enter.

Tips For Healthy Summer Skin + Giveaway

hanging with some of my have bloggers L-R: Brittany, Me & Stef

this month i had the opportunity to head to the Beiersdorf headquarters and learn more about one of my favorite skincare lines - Eucerin. as a Eucerin Skin First Ambassador i get to share with you the latest and greatest things that are happening with Eucerin, in addition to fun tips and giveaways. this trip brought all the Eucerin Skin First Ambassadors together to learn about the latest products being released by Eucerin to treat one of the peskiest skincare conditions, Eczema.

the trip was filled with lots of fun (i mean, 10 bloggers on one trip you are bound to have some laughs), i was able to make some great friendships and i learned so much about skincare.

    the wall o' Eucerin

my MUST-HAVE Eucerin product, the Original Healing Soothing Repair Creme

the wonderful gift baskets we were sent home with!

this month's Eucerin giveaway features tips on how to take care of your skin during these drying summer months.

    Tip #1 - Cleanse Gently

washing your face before bedtime will help keep your skin hydrated, soft and smooth. (bed time is my achilles heel of skin care - i'm always so tired!) washing with a mild non-irritating cleanser like the Eucerin Gentle Hydrating Cleanser will help maintain hydrated skin.

    Tip #2 - Catch some Zzzz's

getting that essential six to eight hours of sleep is important for your overall well-being, including your skin! skip that last t.v. show before bed and make sure you get your sleep!

Tip #3 - Amp up your Antioxidants

foods high in antioxidant levels, (i.e. summer squash, spinach, strawberries and cantaloupe) can help neutralize the free radicals which damage collagen and elastin.

    Tip #4 - Make friends with H20

i've said it once and i'll say it again, drinking water is a must for healthy glowing skin. drinking eight, eight ounces of water a day is good for your body as well as your skin. when you're on the go make sure to pack a water bottle to prevent dehydration.

to maintain good skin care this summer Eucerin is offering to give away

    ·         $100 Visa Gift Card for fun summertime activities
    ·         CamelBak water bottle to make hydration more convenient
    ·         Eucerin Gentle Hydrating Cleanser
    ·         Eucerin Daily Protection SPF 15 Moisturizing Body Lotion
Additionally, they want to help you protect your skin and keep it looking healthy – so they're offering  a FREE sample of Eucerin Daily Protection SPF 15 Moisturizing Body Lotion on Facebook!  To receive a sample, click here, “like” the Eucerin Facebook Page and follow the instructions.

    Fashion Friday + Giveaway

    necklace: c/o Apricot Lane
this week's Fashion Friday features this gorgeous necklace courtesy of Apricot Lane. one of my favorite (will-wear-it-till-it's-blue-in-the-face-never-going-to-let-it-die) signature* styles is to pair a chunky gem'd out necklace with a t-shirt. the easiest way to dress up or dress down while maintaining glamour at all times. a bling'n necklace is the perfect accessory for any tee. you can wear it with jeans or pair it with a skirt. either way it is just the right amount of Real Housewives meets real housewife.

*can't believe i'm old enough to have signature styles

in addition to some glam jewelry i am wearing my other signature style of the moment: neon. check out my post from last Fashion Friday highlighting my neon obsession. the skirt is the midi skirt i featured in my spring Trending post and with me are my trusty Ray Bans. rare is the outfit that isn't accessorized with a jean jacket and a Tiffany & Co. bracelet or two.

last, but not least, i am working my beach waves. check out my post from yesterday featuring an easy tutorial for DIY Beach Waves.
